State Budget 2015: No new projects announced for Adelaide central business district

MAJOR infrastructure projects in the city worth $184.6 million are set to commence or continue next financial year.

The State Budget, released today, shows the Weatherill Government is investing heavily in the city, but the money is all for previously-announced plans, such as the Adelaide Convention Centre redevelopment and the O-Bahn extension.

No new city projects were announced.

Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis said the State Government was committed to continue funding new infrastructure in the city.

“We have invested $1 billion a year on economic infrastructure like the Adelaide Oval, the Convention Centre and the Riverbank development to attract and support major events and lure international and interstate visitors to South Australia,” he said.

“These infrastructure projects are not only transforming our skyline, but changing the way the nation views South Australia and how South Australians view themselves.”

In its 2015-16 Budget, the State Government has set aside:

$76 million for the Adelaide Convention Centre redevelopment;

$32.9 million for the Festival Centre;

$10.5 million for the final stages of the Adelaide Oval redevelopment, including upgrading the northern Parklands and car park;

and $65 million for the O-Bahn extension.
