Honeywell and Intel Security protect IoT and critical infrastructure

Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) and Intel Security have joined hands to help bolster protection of critical industrial infrastructure and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Under this collaboration, Honeywell will provide enhanced security software to its customers as Intel Security’s McAfee technologies will be integrated with Honeywell’s Industrial Cyber Security Solutions.

The customers with enhanced security software can protect their control systems from malware and misuse.

The company said collaboration between Intel Security and HPS will combine the latest advances in cyber security technology with Honeywell’s unique industrial process domain knowledge to provide tailored security solutions for the industrial environment.

Honeywell will qualify Intel Security’s Application Whitelisting and Device Control. The McAfee Application Whitelisting maintains system integrity by allowing only authorized code to run

Additionally, Honeywell will also offer Intel Security’s Enterprise Security Manager and Next Generation Firewall to its customers.

The collaboration will also provide tested, proven and validated protection from known and unknown malware threats against systems using Experion Process Knowledge System.

Both connected and air-gapped systems will have consistence protection without any additional signature updates.

In addition, Honeywell Industrial Cyber Security Risk Manager will provide integrated management and analysis of cyber security risk.

The solution can work without internet access or any other network and is ideal for isolated systems within industrial control systems.

“Working with Intel Security expands our capabilities to enhance the availability, reliability and safety of customers’ industrial control systems and plant operations,” said Jeff Zindel, global business leader for Honeywell’s Industrial Cyber Security Solutions group.

In April, Intel Security collaborated with KIOSK Information Systems for security options and Onyx Healthcare to provide security for IoT in the medical industry.
