Telenor Norway keeps investing to safeguard infrastructure

Telenor Norway said it invests NOK 4.3 billion per year in infrastructure and is constantly strengthening and improving its network to ensure redundancy, back-up power and reduce the risk of service loss. Telenor said Vilger Helgesen, chief of staff to the Norwegian prime minister, had visited the Telenor Security Operations Centre (TSOC) in Arendal on 14 August. Telenor said the TSCO is the first line of defence for national communications infrastructure. In recent years, the operator said, it has invested more than NOK 100 million to raise the level of protection of its digital infrastructure against cyber-attacks.

Telenor added that the Norwegian Intelligence Service has said it will give high priority to digital threats in 2015, as network-based attacks are becoming more targeted and technically advanced. The intelligence service expects more attempts on critical infrastructure and industrial management systems in the years to come.
