Hospitals in Windsor-Essex getting $3M for infrastructure improvements

The provincial government is giving almost $3 million for infrastructure upgrades to Windsor and Essex County hospitals.

The money is coming from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, according to a news release by the Erie St. Clair LHIN.

“These investments will allow more funding to be redirected to where it matters most – frontline care,” says Gary Switzer, CEO, Erie St. Clair LHIN.

It is expected to help address critical infrastructure needs such as:

-Structural upgrades such as roof replacements and new windows

-Upgraded heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems

-Improvements such as upgrading back-up generators

-Upgraded fire alarm systems and other work needed to address requirements under the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Fire Code

Windsor Regional Hospital is getting $1,438,107, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is getting $695,370 and Leamington District Memorial Hospital is receiving $864,822.
