Alliston hospital secures infrastructure funding

ALLISTON – Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston has secured some provincial funding that will help pay for some much-needed repairs and upgrades.

The aging hospital received nearly $223,000 from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF), according to hospital spokesperson Jared Nolan.

The money was allocated to the hospital’s 2015/2016 capital list to pay for exterior concrete repairs, exterior door replacement, floor finishes, a fire alarm system and other improvements.

“I think it’s important to recognize that we are committed and will continue to work with government and HIRF to upgrade current infrastructure needs while striving for an approval for a revitalized facility,” Nolan wrote. “After all, we cannot ignore the problems that come with a 50 year old building. We truly are looking to build the best for this community in terms of a redeveloped facility but that doesn’t preclude us from maximizing these critical infrastructure dollars which greatly assist us in championing quality patient care, every step of the way.”
