Medway: Homeland Security meets with Exelon, town

MEDWAY – The town and the Department of Homeland Security recently met at Exelon’s existing facility and site of a proposed 200-megawatt expansion in response to recent security concerns that have been raised.

At this week’s Board of Selectmen meeting, Town Administrator Michael Boynton announced the news to the board.

“Our police department is plugged into that,” he said of recent security issues raised by residents, adding that Exelon seems to agree. “The fact that they brought Homeland Security in indicates that they’re taking this seriously.”

Exelon spokesman Kevin Thornton said Wednesday that the group conducted a “routine walkdown and security review of the site in an effort to continue to keep lines of communication open with these agencies.”

Thornton would not disclose if any changes were recommended, “for security reasons.” For the full article click here
