Scituate, Hull among towns receiving cash to repair sea walls

SCITUATE — The state awarded $10 million in grants and low-interest loans to municipalities on Tuesday for repairs to storm-battered sea walls and aging dams and levees, and the governor said he is prepared to hand out more funds as a changing climate causes sea levels to rise.

Governor Charlie Baker, who presented the awards at the Scituate Maritime Center, said dam and sea wall repair will continue to be a priority for his administration as it adapts to a “changing environment.”

“There’s a lot a lot more work to be done with respect to this, as we continue to deal with rising sea levels and all the other issues that come with it,” Baker said. For the full article click here
