Flood highlights character, infrastructure

A natural disaster does much to reveal the fabric of our community and state.

When the waters rose in the Midlands and Lowcountry, and the need for bottled water went out, there was shortly too much bottled water donated. Rescue workers struggled with surplus pallets of it.

Other donations have poured in as well. Too many local churches, businesses groups and individuals organized donation drives for them to be adequately listed here. Upstate emergency workers answered the call, risking the flood waters to rescue victims and to help those devastated by the loss of their homes. For the full article click here
