Leidos To Showcase Enterprise Solutions At Smart Cities Week In Washington D.C

RESTON, Va., Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Leidos LDOS, -1.04% an engineering, national security, and health solutions company, is showcasing its data driven solutions for smart cities on Sept. 15-16 in Washington, D.C., at Smart Cities Week 2015. Leidos is a platinum sponsor of the event and Executive Vice President for Business Development and Strategy Michael Leiter will be a featured speaker on the plenary executive roundtable on Tuesday at 12:05 p.m.

“Smart cities are at the core of what Leidos can offer through our expertise in engineering, national security, and health,” said Leiter. “Data and its corresponding security compel public officials, as well as private critical infrastructure owners, to seek out the right technology partners. Leidos’ breadth of experience helps us not only understand the huge opportunities that come with technology, but also the concrete, achievable steps that allow public and private leadership to build a smarter city over time.”

In addition to Leiter’s session, two Leidos experts will highlight specific areas of a smart city. Steve Schneider, chief solutions architect for Leidos Engineering, will explain how smart utilities are the foundation for a smart city. His presentation on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. will review the convergence of dynamic control and potential structures of energy systems in a smart utility. On Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., Solutions Architect Brandon Freeman will explain how the public can benefit from mobile applications that leverage secured data collected from existing city infrastructure. He will also cover the data analytics needed to make information useful when combined from many different departments of a city.
“Smart cities have to be built from the ground up,” added Leiter. “These cities have to include components such as smart utilities, smart factories, smart transportation and smart hospitals — all combining to provide a better living environment for citizens. Intelligent infrastructure and intelligent businesses are the backbone of the city of the future.”

The Leidos booth (#24) will be open during exhibit hours on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Booth visitors will have access to company capability information and can talk with Leidos technology and market experts in utility, transportation, heath, manufacturing and other smart city building block areas. Visitors will also be entered to win a customized Major League Soccer® DC United jersey. Leidos is the presenting partner of D.C. United.
