AUSTIN -
Two companies that specialize in large transportation projects will team up to build the next harbor bridge.
Flatiron-Dragados was selected by the Texas Transportation Commission to design, construction, operate, and maintain the new bridge.
Flatiron-Dragados is a joint venture of the two individual companies.
Both have extensive experience with roads, bridges, dams, and other infrastructure improvements.
The new bridge will cost in excess of $700 million, made up of mostly state funding.
It will be higher and longer, allowing larger ships to enter and leave the Port of Corpus Christi.
Several area leaders were on hand for the vote Thursday in Austin, and thanked the Commission and TxDOT for their hard work and commitment.
