CLOUGH, an engineering and project services contractor, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Murray & Roberts, says its US-based consulting and advisory subsidiary CH•IV International will be owner’s engineer for the engineering, procurement and construction phase of the Magnolia liquid natural gas project (LNG) in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The 18-month contract will see CH•IV — supported by Clough — providing technical and project execution support personnel to Magnolia, as it moves through detailed design and construction and commissioning, to start-up.
The Magnolia project is fully owned by Magnolia LNG, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Liquefied Natural Gas, an Australian listed company. It is based on the development of eight million tonnes per annum of LNG production, starting in late 2018.
“This project will realise the synergies of the Clough and CH•IV relationship with CH•IV providing high value consultancy and engineering expertise, supported by Clough’s global oil and gas engineering capability,” CH•IV president Jeff Beale said on Friday.
Clough’s executive vice president of global products and services, Thomas Dockray, said on Friday that the project was a key milestone for the group.
Work on the contract will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion by about November 2016.
Clough manages a global workforce from operating centres across Australia, Asia, Africa, the UK and US. It announced the $5m acquisition of CH•IV in August last year.
Murray & Roberts said on Friday that Magnolia was “not a large contract”, but was helping Clough to establish its brand and capability outside of Australasia.
