A natural gas pipe network for new residential districts has been completed by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority.
Dr Rashid Al Leem, chairman of Sewa, said the network was introduced in line with directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The aim is to establish critical infrastructure projects that provide basic living standards as well as to use natural gas as a more environmentally friendly energy source.
Sewa is also arranging for the conversion of LPG cylinder-powered cookers and ovens to natural gas systems to be supplied by Sharjah Gas Distribution Networks.
